A STAR-studded line-up of entertainers will perform on Monday and Tuesday night at Helen & Douglas House Hospice’s last-ever Childish Things fundraiser.

There are few tickets remaining for Monday’s New Theatre performance, which includes comedian Jimmy Carr and former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, while Tuesday night has sold out.

Organisers hope to raise £100,000 across the two nights for the East Oxford-based hospices with the fundraiser, which is in its 10th and final year.

The show’s organisers decided to call time on the fundraiser because it was getting harder to recruit in-demand names and to focus on other methods of raising cash.

Magician duo , 26,Headington, and Rob West, 27, from Deddington, will perform as Morgan & West on both nights.

The pair, both former teachers, met while studying at the University of Oxford.

Mr Morgan said: “It is the first time we have done Childish Things but we have been involved with Helen & Douglas House over the past five years.

“We go down to Douglas House at least once or twice a year and do a show.

“We are really excited about it. Especially as the Tuesday is sold out and Monday is close to selling out. It is such an amazing cause and we love visiting.”

They will be treading the boards of the New Theatre, Oxford, with Didcot Xtra Factor presenter Matt Richardson, QI founder John Lloyd, musician Ally Craig and city a capella group Out of the Blue.

Kate Day, co-organiser of Childish Things with Lizzie Pickering, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the line-up.

“Every year we are pleased. We are so lucky we get these big names coming to do this show for free.

“They are asked so many times by other charities and we are thrilled they are sticking by us.”

She added: “We are really looking forward to it. It is a mixture of emotions. Ten years is a long time to do for one event.

“Generally we would run an event for two or three years.

“It feels like the right time to take a break.”

Childish Things raised £70,000 last year and has raised more than £500,000 since it started in 2004.

Helen & Douglas House – which relies on donations and fundraising – cares for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions and supports their families.

Helen House was the world’s first children’s hospice when it was built in 1982 and Douglas House opened in 2004 as the world’s first hospice for young adults aged 16 to 35.

Douglas House is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
