FRIENDS of teenager Connor Tremble are to hold a fundraiser in his memory.

The 17-year-old died after he was attacked and repeatedly stabbed at his Iffley Fields home in Oxford last month.

Now friends are hoping to raise money to pay for projects in his name, including two memorial benches.

Next month’s event has been organised by the Oxford youth project Trax where Connor used to be a student.

The charity, based near the Pear Tree roundabout in North Oxford, uses mechanics to motivate teenagers and was set up in 1992 in response to a rise in car crime.

Manager Lyndon Biddle said Connor had taken a mechanics course at the centre two years ago.

He said: “Lots of the young people that come here knew Connor, so we thought it would be nice to do something to remember him.

“There are one or two in particular who were quite close to Connor and have been very upset.

“He was a nice lad. Like all our lads he had some issues but he was a good student and he was interested in mechanics.”

He added: “We are hoping to get as many people as we can who knew Connor to get involved. It will be a chance to chill and remember him.”

There will be live music and a barbecue at the venue on Thursday, April 10, from 5pm to 7pm. A tree will also be planted in the teen’s name.

Kidlington teenager Marley Ward last month recorded a rap song in tribute to Connor and it has now had more than 10,000 views on YouTube.

The teenager, who performs as Young Spide, will be performing an extended version of the song at the fundraiser and said Trax was an appropriate place to hold the event.

He added: “A lot of people who knew him went there. But there are lots of people who didn’t go there who are going to pay their respects. “Apparently there are quite a lot of people going.”

Marley also said the fundraiser was the first step towards turning Connor’s death into something positive.

But he added Connor’s friends were still trying to come to terms with his death.

He said: “There are still people who are devastated. Everybody is saying on Facebook how much they miss him – it was a young life taken.”

William Blencowe, 20, Oxford Road, Banbury, has been charged with Connor’s murder and Grant Clemens, 23, of Stockwells, Moreton-in-Marsh has been accused of assisting an offender.

Both are in custody.
