A SECOND consultation period has begun for Oxford City Council’s £15m tower block refurbishment programme.

Work on the tower blocks is expected to start next year and the city council is asking members of the public what they think of the latest designs.

City councillor Scott Seamons, the executive board member for housing, said: “The extensive works we have planned for the tower blocks take time to design so we make sure we get it right.

“I encourage residents of the blocks and those from their wider communities to come, take a look, and share their thoughts as we finalise designs ahead of next year’s works.”

The revamp will centre on the structure and cladding of the five tower blocks – Plowman, Windrush, Evenlode, Hockmore and Foresters – together with insulation, replacement windows, replacement heating and lift refurbishment.

Consultation events will take place today at Wood Farm children’s centre between 4pm and 7pm, tomorrow at Templar Square Shopping Centre between 4pm and 7pm, and at the Blackbird Leys Community Centre on Thursday between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

A consultation was held at the Plowman Tower play base yesterday.
