SAINT Patrick’s Day was celebrated in style yesterday in Yarnton.
Yarnton Residential and Nursing Home in Rutten Lane was decked out with green balloons, bunting and decorations, with staff and residents donning their finest emerald attire for the day. Residents tried their hand at making and decorating shamrocks to add to the care home’s art wall.
Jennie Barnes, 89, said: “I very much enjoyed today and became engrossed in my artwork.
“It was really satisfying.”
There were also readings of Irish poetry and folk stories, before a traditional Gaelic sing-along – with an Irish jig or two thrown in for good measure.
Joyce Ushaw, 79, said: “I loved the whole day and found it very informative. I particularly enjoyed the Irish tunes.”
Activities leader Polly Archer said: “All of our residents enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day. To round things off, we had a good old sing-along to favourites such as Danny Boy and Molly Malone.”
