CUTS to benefits has led to landlords picking and choosing who rents out their homes and, with demand outstripping supply for places to rent, the most needy are losing out.

As many landlords are now refusing to accept people on benefits, some families are placed in the unenviable position of either accepting a new home allocated outside Oxford, or taking legal action to stay put.

Some families have already accepted the inevitable and have been transferred out of Oxford, where they will have to make do with a home from home, miles away from the relatives and friends they rely on for support.
