YOUNG singers took to the stage on Saturday at the Chipping Norton Music Festival.

More than 300 children in choirs from 10 primary schools took part in a concert at Chipping Norton School, including these pupils from Middle Barton School.

They received comments from adjudicator Steven Roberts but the event was non-competitive.

Festival vice-chairman Sarah Cobb said: “It’s about promoting confidence through performance, with the aim of getting constructive feedback. The quality was exceptional and the standards seem to improve year on year.

“The quality was exceptional and the standards do seem to improve year on year. We’ve got some very active teachers now who are bringing their schools across and it’s going from strength to strength.

“It’s a good opportunity for them to watch other performances and learn from each other to improve their own skills. We pride ourselves on it being a non-competitive festival of a friendly nature.”

The festival, which features a wide range of music, runs until Saturday, March 22. The Allergi String Quarter will perform at the town hall on Sunday at 7.30pm and a festival highlights concert will close the event on March 22, in the town hall at 7.30pm.
