ABOUT 400 runners are set to take part in the first Oxford 10k, which was delayed because of flooding.

The run, originally set for January 26, was delayed after Cutteslowe Park, North Oxford, flooded and it will now take place on Sunday at Tilsley Park in Dunmore Road, Abingdon, at 10.30am.

It will raise money for the British Athletics Wheelchair Association.

Organiser Mark Caswell said: “It was very frustrating. We had to give refunds and stop entries coming in, but there is nothing we can do about it.

“We would have got 500 runners if it hadn’t have been for the weather.”

He added: “Tilsley Park has been very helpful to take us on board at very short notice. In my opinion it is the best kept secret in the area.”

Runners of all abilities are welcome to take part and can register on the day by reporting to the athletics track between 9.30am and 10.15am.

Entry costs £12, which includes a T-shirt and medal.
