A RAPIST who took advantage of a drunk woman in a hotel room has been branded a “predator” and jailed for six years.
Kirankumar Solanki, of Cottesmore Road, Oxford, was yesterday found guilty at Oxford Crown Court of committing two rapes and one sexual assault on September 3 last year.
Graham Smith, prosecuting, said his 20-year-old victim was vulnerable, having been drinking at The Bridge nightclub in Hythe Bridge Street during the evening.
He said she became drunk, could not remember leaving the club, and woke up with the “predator” Solanki on top of her in the Victoria House Hotel, in George Street, Oxford.
Judge Mary Jane Mowat said CCTV showed the defendant following his victim before taking her to the hotel room when she was “in no fit state” to consent.
She said: “This was a calculated rape.
“She was not capable of consenting to have sexual activity with you and you did not believe she was capable of consenting.”
She also told Solanki, who is an overstayer from India, that he would be considered for deportation once the custodial half of his sentence is over. He must also pay a £120 victims’ surcharge.
