Det Ch Insp Mark Glover, of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime unit, said: “Sadly the victim has now passed away in hospital.

“Thames Valley Police has launched a murder investigation and I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact police.

“I would like to reassure members of the community that a team of detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened and we now have two people in custody in connection with the incident.

”This is not believed to be a random attack.
