RUNNERS across Oxford will be donning their trainers and headbands for this year’s Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile.

The event which is set to take place on Sunday, March 23, will see a host of sprinters, walkers and runners set off from Cutteslowe Park.

The race is part of a nationwide fundraising event for Sport Relief where runners will have the choice of either a one, three or six-mile course.

All money raised through sponsorship will go to Sport Relief.

Mark Lygo, board member for sport, parks and events, said: “This is the third time the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile has come to Oxford and we are keen to make this year the best yet.

“With plenty of other activities to try on the day it should be a great morning out for the whole family whilst getting active for a good cause.”

As well as the mile event, there will be sports taster sessions of table tennis and basketball.
