FROM working with schools to attending calls for crime, it has been a varied three years for PCSO Lori Jones.

But now she is bidding farewell to the Rose Hill, Littlemore and Iffley neighbourhood policing team tomorrow.

PCSO Jones is moving back to her home town of Blackpool to study midwifery in September.

She told the Oxford Mail: “It will be a sad day when I leave my area.

“I have had an amazing nearly three and half years here and it has taught me a lot about life. The people I’ve met along the way are some of the best people I’ve had the pleasure to meet.”

PCSO Jones has been working with children from the John Henry Newman Academy in Grange Road, Littlemore, on the School Traffic and Road Safety (STARS) project this year.

She worked with the youngsters to bring about the clean-up of a pathway leading to the back of the school. They also learned about road safety.

PCSO Jones was also involved in the successful enforcement of a Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) in Cowley Road, Littlemore, which came into force in October last year and gives police powers to stop people from drinking in a public place.

And she has been a regular face at Littlemore Parish Council and Rose Hill Tenants’ and Residents’ Association meetings, as well as community events including Rose Hill’s annual Christmas party on the estate.

Rose Hill and Littlemore county councillor Gill Sanders said: “She has been a really excellent part of what is a very good team.

“She has got to know an awful lot of people and her knowledge of the area and residents has been invaluable and will be difficult to replace.

“She will be very, very sorely missed. We wish her well.”

Mrs Sanders added: “The thing with the PCSOs is that they are a brilliant source of knowledge and expertise. They are a very, very valuable part of looking after our community.”

Rose Hill city councillor Ed Turner said: “We have got a great police team in Rose Hill and Lori is a brilliant example of that.

“She is very committed to supporting the community, has been a friendly face at community events, and she has been a wonderful PCSO.

“I know she goes with our good wishes.”
