A YEAR ago a group of friends lost a dear pal to cancer and vowed to raise money in her name to find a cure.

Over the past 12 months, Beth’s Pink Ladies, Anna Reading, Charlotte Wilson, Jude Barber, Liz Wilson, Lyndsey Jones-Donaldson, Sally Moran and Vicky Ralph, have raised almost £23,000 for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

The women set up the group in memory of mother-of-one Dr Bethan Reading who died in January last year aged 34.

In the past year they have saddled up for a 24-hour horse relay, donned 80s style keep-fit clothing for a Pink Aerobathon and manned a stall to raise cash.

After the first anniversary of Dr Reading’s death the women are more determined then ever to keep funds coming in as their friend would have been “immensely proud”.

This year they will stage events kicking off with a cake and craft sale on Saturday, March 8, from 10am to 2pm, at Bicester Methodist Church hall.

Friend Liz Wilson said: “We are more determined than ever to keep raising lots of money and awareness for Breast Cancer Campaign in Beth’s name.”

Dr Reading was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and given the all clear before it returned.
