ONE of Oxford’s biggest bands, Foals, have announced a last-minute hometown show.

The indie-rock five-piece are set to begin a national tour later this month, but stunned fans by this afternoon revealing they would play a gig at Oxford’s O2 Academy - tomorrow.

Tickets for the Cowley Road show go on sale at 10am tomorrow. Half will be available online with the rest sold to fans arriving at the venue’s box office in person. Large queues are expected.

The show follows a momentous year for frontman Yannis Philippakis, 27; bass player Walter Gervers, 29; keyboardist Edwin Congreave, 28; guitarist and keyboardist Jimmy Smith, 28; and drummer Jack Bevan, 27, with a string of sold-out shows; high up the bill appearances at Glastonbury, Latitude and Reading Festivals; and a Mercury Prize nomination for their Top Two album Holy Fire.

Tomorrow's show will feature support from Oxford’s Pet Moon, fronted by former bandmate and collaborator Andrew Mears.

Those who miss out on tickets for the Oxford show, may get a chance to see them elsewhere on their February tour, which arrives at Birmingham’s O2 Academy on February 11, and concludes at London’s Alexandra Palace on February 14 - Valentine’s Day.
