HOMES in Headington have had their power restored.

More than 700 properties in the Demesne Furze area were cut off by a fault on the high voltage network at 5.10pm yesterday.

About 600 of those were restored power by 6.10pm and the remaining 131 were put back online at 5am today, Southern Electric said late this morning. The information that houses were still without power had been released by Southern Electric at 9.40am.

The energy firm said there was a delay in restoring power because a was blocking its engineers’ access to the Headington Road substation overnight.
