CYCLISTS in Bicester are being urged to get their bikes security marked at a police event next month.

The free bike marking will take place in Pioneer Square on Saturday, February 1, between 10am and 2pm.

Pc Vicky Lees, of the Bicester neighbourhood team, said: “Security marking your bike can act as a deterrent to opportunist thieves and makes it easier for the police to identify it if it is stolen, and speeds up the process for returning it to its owner.

“If stolen property is recovered and the bike is not marked, it is difficult to trace the rightful owner as the make, model and frame number details are unknown and not registered.”
