NEARLY 150 artists are lining up to take part in Oxford’s first international art fair next month.

The Oxford International Art Fair, which will take place at the Town Hall, is welcoming artists from as far afield as India, Africa and Dubai to the city.

It is being organised by Joelle Dinnage, who has been organising an Oxford Art Fair in North Hinksey for the past two years.

She said: “We are really happy with the number of artists coming and we have got a really good range of work, from photography to paintings to sculpture.

“There is some urban art as well, and there are some local artists, so they are not all from far afield.”

The event is being organised by the Global Art Agency, which runs art fairs in Vienna, Barcelona and Amsterdam.

As well as hundreds of pieces of art, there will also be events such as live painting.

Ms Dinnage said: “I organised an art fair at The Fishes pub and so many people enjoyed visiting it as well as exhibiting there that I thought we needed to organise a bigger one.

“I live in Oxford and I thought that if no-one else is going to organise this then I would. There is an art fair in Reading, so why not here?

“Oxford is a city of culture I suppose and the main hall of the Town Hall is a magnificent venue.”

There will also be an award ceremony for the best artist in the fair which will be judged by the curators and three local judges. The award will be handed out on the last day of the fair.

The Oxford International Art Fair takes place between Friday, February 7, and Sunday, February 9.
