A HUMBLE Mini belonging to Jason Field has won this year’s classic car of the year competition at the Birmingham NEC.
His 1960 Austin Se7en Super-Deluxe saw off 200 other old favourites, including a Jowett Javelin, a Hillman Imp, a pre-war Morris Minor and a Sunbeam Alpine.
The 42-year-old classic car enthusiast, of Mark Road, Headington, owns several Minis with his wife Tanya and works as a telecoms manager at the BMW plant in Cowley.
He said: “I never thought we would win. I thought it would go to the Hillman Imp. But everyone knows the Mini so it does have a special place in a lot of hearts.”
