A POPULAR DJ was found dead in his bed by a housemate, an inquest has heard.

Matthew Willams was known by his stage name of Matt G-netic around the Oxford area and in the 1990s at Destiny club events in Bournemouth.

After his death, tributes were left to him on Facebook pages and music forums.

Mr Williams, 40, who lived in Nicholson Road, Marston, had been ill for a long period of time before he died, and had been admitted to hospital 14 months previously with bleeding.

His housemate, Richard Eldridge, said before his death, on May 11, he had become concerned about Mr Williams’ health and said he looked gaunt.

In a statement, read to Oxfordshire Coroners’ Court yesterday, he said: “I had a conversation with our landlord and all of his friends as we were very worried about him.”

Mr Eldridge went out during the day on May 11 and found Mr Williams dead in his bed later that evening.

The cause of Mr Williams’ death was confirmed as sepsis from a kidney infection and multiple liver abscesses.

Coroner Darren Salter said: “Based on the the evidence my conclusion (of the death) is one of natural causes.”
