CHRISTMAS was in the air as 150 care home residents gathered to celebrate with festive food, crackers and carol-singing.

The Orders of St John Care Trust hosted its annual Christmas Carol Service at The King’s Centre in Osney Mead, Oxford, on Wednesday.

The charity runs 23 care homes in Oxford and around the county.

Residents were treated to a Christmas service by the Rev Mike Beaumont and seasonal songs from the OSJCT choir.

Sharon Wheeler, activities and volunteer manager, said: “Christmas is a very special time of the year for our residents because it brings back fond memories of times past, including past Christmas Carol Services with us.

“Residents look forward to Christmas time all year long, so not only does our annual event provide residents with a chance to sing carols and celebrate the season with friends from their home, but it’s also a great opportunity for them to get out for the day and socialise with residents from other homes.”
