A TEACHER who complained of feeling unwell collapsed and died days later, an inquest heard on Wednesday.

Kamaljeet Bidwall was found dead at her home in Avocet Way, Bicester, on April 24 when police broke in after her concerned colleagues called them.

The inquest at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard that it was likely the 36-year-old had died a day or so before she was discovered.

Her sister Lakhwinder Bidwall, who is also a teacher, visited Kamaljeet on the weekend before her death.

In a statement read to the court, Lakhwinder said she woke up on Sunday, April 21, to find her sister lying on the sofa and added: “She looked very tired and uncomfortable.

“She hadn’t eaten anything since Saturday evening.”

She bought Kamaljeet a packet of Rennies, used to treat indigestion.

Lakhwinder said: “On Monday I spoke with Kamaljeet via text. She explained she got some medication from Boots and felt much better. On Tuesday I texted Kamaljeet, but got no reply.”

Her cause of death was given as acute peritonitis, described by pathologist Dr Nicholas Hunt as a “rare gastric phenomenon.”

Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.

It was not revealed at the inquest which school Ms Bidwall taught at.
