THE election of the new president of the Oxford University Student Union shows a lack of interesting people at the university, according to a New Statesman article.
Louis Trup was elected president after a campaign in which he pledged to turn the Bodleian Library into a nightclub.
Writing in the magazine, Joe Collin praised his eye-catching election campaign.
But he added: “Our fetishisation of his charisma only demonstrates the dearth of remotely interesting people elsewhere.
“This election result is just another symptom of disengagement with the political class, even if this time it’s only the student political class we are rebelling against.”
