12:00pm Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
AHARRR me hearties, let’s have ourselves a game of pirates.
Customers at Thirsty Meeples Board Game Café in Gloucester Green, Oxford, were treated to a range of pirate-themed games to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Thursday.
The café, which opened six weeks ago, had games like Pirates vs Pirates, Pirate Fluxx and Riff Raff out for people to enjoy.
The day is a worldwide celebration of the art of talking like pirates and was started in 1995.
Café owner John Morgan said: “We have more than 30 pirate-themed games and we wanted to do fun things for our customers.
“We have had some students in who have been playing a game called Live Italia and there is a game called Pirate Fluxx where you get points if you can talk like a pirate throughout the whole game. We had a lot of people through the doors for it.”
