Vickers VC10 to make its final flight from RAF Brize Norton
THE Vickers VC10 will make its final flight from RAF Brize Norton today after nearly 50 years of service.
Two aircraft will take off from the West Oxfordshire base at 10am this morning and land at 2.05pm after refuelling a Eurofighter Typhoon and Tornado GR4 in mid-air as well as doing a series of flypasts.
The VC10 – which is flown by Brize’s 101 Squadron – has been in use since the 1960s but is being replaced by a fleet of new Voyager A330-200s.
Once today’s mission has been completed, the two remaining VC10s will be dismantled.
