That’s a great bit of top-spin Father

MEMBERS of the congregation are on song with ping pong at a church in Jericho after their vicar set up a table tennis table.
Father Jonathan Beswick wants to help churchgoers at St Barnabas Church to stay active.
The idea came from Richmond Road resident Lady Wendy Ball who wanted to play the sport, but was unable to find anywhere to do so.
The church wants the ping pong table to be permanent.
Lady Ball, 74, said: “I just had an idea for it as I had been trying to find somewhere to play and couldn’t.
“Father Jonathan is extremely good at using the church for the community and so I asked him if he would consider having a table in the church.
“He immediately said yes and thought it was a wonderful idea.
“I think it should be used primarily at the beginning by older people in the community and it should keep them fit and active.”
Father Jonathan Beswick explained: “We want to encourage people to get fit through playing ping pong. “We had space at the back of the church so I thought it would be a great idea. “We thought we would give it a go and hope that maybe next summer we could get the table outside in the, hopefully, nice weather, and who knows, we might get another table or two.”
