Artist has booked in for an exhibition
3:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
THIS is one artist who is outstanding in her field.
At least she was when she painted this picture of bluebells at Shotover Park just outside Oxford.
Michele Field, from Kidlington, has been painting the flowers of Oxfordshire for the last five years.
Now she is showing them all off at Oxford Central Library.
Mrs Field, 60, said: “I have a lovely space right at the top of the library. When you go in to take books back you can see the paintings for free as well.”
She said because the library is so secure she was able to put some of her most treasured works on show.
The paintings, in acrylics, are mostly of flowers – violet irises, gerber daisies and pale day lilies – in her garden, which she takes photographs of and then paints in great detail over a number of days in the studio.
She said: “I like bright colours, and I find flowers beautiful and inspiring.
“Oxfordshire is a good place to find flowers and I get most of my inspiration from my own garden.”
The exhibition runs until Saturday, September 28.
