Carfax tower death fall man 'a wonderful person who gave so much to the community'
9:30am Saturday 31st August 2013 in News
A CHARITY worker who died after jumping from Carfax Tower had previous thoughts of falling from Oxford’s tall buildings, an inquest heard yesterday.
Kris Scott, from Jeune Street, East Oxford, was described as a “wonderful person” by colleagues at Oxfordshire mental health charity Restore – where he worked from 2008 until 2011.
The 39-year-old died from multiple injuries after jumping from the tower at 10am on May 13. After the inquest on Thursday, Restore colleague Gemma Humphrey said: “He was such a wonderful person who gave so much to the community and helped so many people.
“We were really saddened by the news – it is a great loss.”
Oxfordshire Coroner Darren Salter recorded a verdict that Mr Scott took his own life.
A statement by his GP at North Oxford Medical Centre in Woodstock Road, Dr Karen Howie, said he had a history of depression dating back to 1995. She said he had previously admitting thoughts of jumping off a tall building in Oxford and that he had a long standing suicidal thought of jumping off Beachy Head.
She said that he thought his condition was improving so he had stopped his medication against advice and wanted to start work again.
