All fired up to learn some bushcraft skills
10:00am Saturday 17th August 2013 in News
THE Clark family watched proudly as smoke rose from the dry vegetation.
They had just learnt how to make a fire without the use of matches or lighters as part of a family bushcraft day, run by the Earth Trust in Little Wittenham yesterday.
Botley mother-of-two Celia Clark, who was also celebrating her birthday yesterday, said: “We had a fantastic day.
“We have covered lots of different areas of bushcraft.
“We built a shelter in the morning and in the afternoon we learnt how to get a fire started. “Our favourite bit was whittling hazel sticks.”
Whittling is the art of carving shapes, typically out of wood.
