2,000-mile challenge aims to boost Standlake Primary School funds
2:30pm Thursday 4th July 2013 in News
STANDLAKE residents are gearing up for a 2,013-mile cycling challenge as part of a fun day on Saturday, with the aim of raising at least £2,013 for the village school.
Cyclists are being challenged to complete five-mile circuits around Standlake and Northmoor to reach the target.
And for those who do not want to tackle the road circuit, static bikes are being borrowed from Witney's Windrush Leisure Centre for the day, so they can join in.
The day’s events, in aid of the Friends of Standlake School, begin with a big family breakfast at The Black Horse pub from 10am.
The bikeathon challenge starts at The Bell Inn at 11am and runs until 5pm.
A host of attractions, including the exercise bikes, a barbecue, beer tent and bouncy castle, will be at the Bell Inn field from noon to 3pm.
To register for the ride, see justgiving.com/standlakebikathon or collect an entry form from the pubs or from the office at Standlake Primary School, in Church End.
