LIFEBOAT crews were called to the aid of a speedboat which had gone aground.
The Harwich RNLI Inshore lifeboat was called to the 10 foot boat in Walton Channel at around 1pm yesterday.
When the crews arrived they found the tide was receding and they were unable to get close enough to attach a line and pull them free.
The Walton coastguard was tasked to the boat and was able to rescue the two casualties and a dog.
They used mud rescue equipment and secured the vessel.
