EIGHT homes in Oxford have been broken into during a series of burglaries in the past month.
The latest happened in Rock Edge, Headington, on Tuesday, when gold jewellery was stolen.
Pc Darren Little said: “This is the most recent burglary in a series.
“There have been eight burglaries since March 21 where thieves seem to have been targeting gold jewellery, possible due to the increase in the value of gold. On some occasions the thieves have broken in, searched the house and not stolen anything.
“I would like to reassure residents that, despite these incidents, burglaries remain low.”
Cash and jewellery was stolen from a home in Ashurst Way, Rose Hill, on April 11. On the same day jewellery and foreign currency was taken from a home in Shelley Road, Cowley.
On April 10 a house in Corunna Crescent was broken into but nothing was stolen.
Two days earlier, homes in Long Lane and Boundary Brook Road were broken into but nothing was taken.
Gold and jewellery were stolen in Meadow Lane on March 27 and jewellery was stolen in Spencer Crescent, Rose Hill, on March 30.
Anyone with information about any of the break-ins should call Pc Little on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
