Circus clowns, acrobats and a little romance...

A GLOBE of death, a strongman, horses, clowns and acrobats were in action as Zippos Circus returned to Oxford last night. The award-winning circus returned to South Park and performances will run until Tuesday, March 26.

It features Ukrainian strong-man Hercules, French clowns Duo Delbosq, flying acrobats Havana Troupe and Nicky de Neumann with an equine act. The highlight could be the Globe of Death, in which three riders hurtle around the inside of a steel-mesh ball at 60mph while a woman stands in the centre.

But for one half of Duo Delbosq, Emilion Delbosq, 28, it will be an emotional return to Oxford after he proposed to the act’s other half Andreea, 30, last year. He said: “Oxford has a special place in my heart – it will always be the place I proposed to my wife – and it is nice to be back.”
