Village hall banks on volunteers for clean-up
A GROUP of bank workers gave their time to help spruce up a 93-year-old village hall – thanks to the Oxford Mail.
Employees from Barclays bank in Kidlington volunteered to work at Littlemore Village Hall after reading about a plea for helpers.
Chris Gibb, Nora Brennan, Angie Beckley and Debbie Whitehead were on hand to help out at the weekend.
They helped clean the Railway Lane hall and put up shelves on Saturday.
Maggie Willis, of the village hall committee with other volunteers, is organising monthly clean-ups at the facility.
She said: “I’m delighted, we need all the help we can get.
“If there is a group of us, it is an enjoyable thing to do rather than just a few people doing chores again.
“Even in just two hours so much can be achieved.”
“Little things are going to make it more attractive and more functional.”
Miss Willis said: “We wouldn’t have met them at all if it wasn’t for the Oxford Mail, so we are very grateful.”
The cleaning sessions are held on the third Saturday of every month for two hours in the morning.
The team from Barclays will help again on Saturday, April 20. To volunter email Miss Willis at mrw1@btinternet.com
