Oxford woman sexually attacked by burglar

A BURGLAR sexually assaulted an Oxford woman in a bedroom yesterday morning.

Police said the victim woke up at about 5.30am to find a man in the room who then touched her.

The attacker left by the back door of a property in the Speedwell Street area after the woman shouted out.

Police described the attacker as white, in his mid to late 30s, of heavy build and about 6ft. He was wearing khaki trousers and a brown jacket.

Investigating officer Det Insp Steve Raffield said: “This was a scary ordeal for the victim, who has been very brave in reporting the incident to police.

“I want to reassure the community that police take these matters very seriously and we are doing everything we can to find the offender.

“Officers will be out in the area today, offering reassurance to the local community. I also want to reiterate that incidents of this nature are extremely rare.”

Call police on 101 with information.
