A NEW Oxford care home hosted its first charity event with a a teddy bear picnic theme.

Iffley Residential and Nursing Home in Anne Greenwood Close hosted the event to raise cash for Dementia UK on Monday.

The home opened in January so it gave visitors a chance to take a look around and meet and greet the residents.

Resident Joan Brown, 99, said: “The afternoon was very enjoyable.

“The cakes were delightful and I enjoyed meeting people from the community and their families.

“I thought it was a really good idea to have the theme of the teddy bears picnic because it kept everybody – both young and old – amused.”

Activities leader Mandy Bloomfield said: “There was a wonderful atmosphere, with lots of smiling faces and laughter.”
