Literary festival welcomes writers from across globe

A host of award-winning authors will descend on the city next week for the 2013 Sunday Times Oxford Literary Festival.
One of them is the 2012 Booker award-winner Hilary Mantel, who is one of only three authors to win the award twice.
She will talk to a sell-out audience at the Sheldonian Theatre about the second book in her Thomas Cromwell series, Bring Up the Bodies and will also be awarded the Bodley Medal which is awarded to those who have made “outstanding contributions” in the field of communications and literature.
Festival director Sally Dunsmore said: “We have more events in the magnificent surroundings of the Sheldonian Theatre this year.
“There is a particular international flavour to this year’s festival with lots of writers travelling over from the United States, Inkheart writer Cornelia Funke from Germany, a panel of Russian writers, new Indian writers and leading Spanish novelist Javier Marias.”
There are more than 250 events at the festival, which takes place between Saturday, March 16. and Sunday, March 24.
