Steam specials head for Cotswold Line

TWO special steam trains will take to the tracks on the Cotswold Line this month, bringing the unsual sight of a former Southern Railway steam locomotive on the Cotswold Line.

On Saturday, Battle of Britain Class locomotive No 34067 Tangmere will haul an excursion to Worcester.

The train will leave Oxford at 11.41am before passing through Charlbury at noon.

On Tuesday, March 19, a Cathedrals Express excursion will run from Kent to Worcester, leaving Oxford at 12.45pm for a round trip to Worcester’s Shrub Hill station along the Cotswold Line, arriving back at Oxford at 6.15pm.

This train is expected to be powered by British Railways Pacific locomotive No 70000 Britannia.
