Suspected thief falls into river

A SUSPECTED thief who fell into the Thames after being chased by police was believed to have stolen a generator from a fast-food van.
The man tried to escape on a bicycle before falling into the river last Wednesday night.
It has now emerged staff from the kebab van in Botley Road gave chase at about 7.55pm along with police. While being pursued the man fell into the river.
Both the bicycle and generator went into the river and the suspected thief got out on the opposite bank of the river before making off.
