WITH a cha-cha, three charities celebrated receiving donations from a Headington Goes Strictly dance competition.

Five members of the Headington community danced with five professional dance tutors from the Step-by-Step Dance School in Windmill Road in the competition, raising money for CLIC Sargent, Cancer Research UK and Helen and Douglas House.

More than £1,000 was raised at the event, and was handed over to the charities on Monday.

Jason Manning, an Oxford City Council project manager, won the competition with his dance partner Linda Stanley.

Viv Rhymes, of organisers Step-by-Step Dance School, said: “We all had a go and the charity representatives took part. We did a basic cha-cha and it was nice for them to have a go at things our ‘celebrities’ were doing."
