New home offers dementia care

A £5m residential care home has opened in Oxford, creating up to 70 jobs.
Iffley Residential and Nursing Home, which offers residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, has 76 ensuite bedrooms, including rooms for couples.
The home incorporates a purpose-built dementia suite.
The Lord Mayor of Oxford, Alan Armitage, and one of the home’s first residents, 95-year-old Joan Critchley, cut the ribbon to officially open the home in Anne Greenwood Close last week.
Ms Critchley said: “I think the home is absolutely marvellous. I am so glad I made the decision to live here.”
Manager Clare Jackson said: “There is a real need for specialist care provision in the area and our home and the dedicated team we have here will be a real asset to the community.”
The home has a cinema room, music room, library, communal lounges and dining areas.
There is also a hairdressing salon, restaurant dining room and a landscaped garden which residents can help to maintain, and the building is fully wheelchair accessible.
The construction of the home started in summer 2011 and finished 19 months later.
It was built by housing and care provider Sanctuary Group and it will be managed by Sanctuary Care.
