PLANS for a new hotel in East Oxford have been earmarked for approval.
Planners at Oxford City Council have recommended councillors approve proposals for a 66- bedroom hotel at Tyndale House, Cowley Road.
Wilton Place Properties Ltd wants to extend the building, which currently houses offices and change its use to enable it to open as a hotel.
A report to the council’s west area planning committee, which will meet on Thursday, urges councillors to approve it.
It said: “The proposed development would make an efficient use of a previously developed site to provide shortstay accommodation which meets a required need, in a wholly sustainable location, without causing an adverse impact upon highway and pedestrian safety or undue environmental disturbance to surrounding residential properties.”
Comments on the planning bid were received from several residents, most of whom supported the proposal.
