CANCER fighters, survivors, their relatives and friends are being urged to sign up for Oxford’s Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life to raise money to help beat the disease.
Registration has now opened to sign up for the run at the University Parks on July 14.
Last year, 5,863 women took part in the 5k walk, jog or run, raising a total of £341,003.
This year, organisers are hoping to get 6,100 people signed up to help raise £350,000 for research.
The money pays for doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research on how to beat cancer.
Simon Burley, Cancer Research UK’s South East events manager, said: “Together, we can hit cancer where it hurts.
“There are over 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all. It’s fighting talk, and we mean every word we say. Cancer, Oxford is coming to get you.
“Race for Life is an amazing way to celebrate life but also remember those who have been lost to the disease.
“Participants may be decked out in pink or fancy dress but what’s inescapable is the power and strength that comes from thousands of women joining together to confront cancer.
“Don’t be fooled by the tutus and tiaras. Oxford Race for Life is cancer’s worst nightmare.”
