HARPIST Ellen Davies accompanied a 30-strong student choir at a free lunchtime concert in Merton College, Oxford, yesterday.

The students performed Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols in the chapel at the college in Merton Street.

Ms Davies, 21, who is a student at Merton, said: “There were quite a few people there despite the snow and it went really well.

“The acoustics in the chapel are really nice so it is lovely to play there.”

Ellie Hicks, 19, a first year music student at University College who is a member of the choir, said: “The concert went really well, I really enjoyed it.

“There was a pretty good audience and a couple of friends supporting us too. It was a really great atmosphere.”

The choir was established in 2008.
