Scene of robbery at Lloyds TSB in Headington
TWO men with guns threatened cashiers at Headington’s Lloyds TSB this morning and took an unknown sum of cash.
Armed police were sent to the bank in London Road at 9.53am today and it remains cordoned off while officers continue their investigation.
The two robbers fled on foot in the direction of Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.
One is described as white, about 5ft 9ins, of slim build wearing a black hat and scarf around his face with a yellow high-visibility vest over a black coat.
The second robber is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, about 5ft 6ins, and of average build.
He was wearing a hat and scarf across his face with a yellow high visibility vest over a checked shirt.
Det Sgt Mark Stalder said, “Police are currently investigating and additional patrols will be located around the area.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It was obviously well planned and took a lot of bottle to carry out, but nobody was hurt, and it is the kind of robbery that fueled the British film industry for a decade. A good old fashioned caper.

It's funny you should mention the Headington Gregg's: I have just noticed that they are closed at the moment, with a notice saying PIGEON.AGAIN.SORRY

Oh and nobody was hurt and the risk of it happening does pretty much come with the territory.
That was a very traumatic event for staff and customers , having a gun waved in your face is no laughing matter , show some respect

If you feel so strongly about the incompetence and greed of their superiors - and you'd be right in my opinion - take your protest to them, by joining a march through The City or joining a campaign group. Do not condone violent criminality aimed at their junior staff.

If you want to moan about the banks, and who doesn't, then withdraw your money and join an ethical bank, or keep it under your mattress (where it is no doubt safer, anyway).

Sandy, your attitude disgusts me. Nobody should have a gun waved at them (ie be threatened with an agonising death) in the course of doing their job. Police officers are very occasionally faced with lethal force and rightly command the public's respect for doing so, if not for some of their less illustrious activities. Bank staff, carrying out the transactions of their employers, should be no different.

Oh, and Mr editor do you really think it was a good idea to publish the name of a potential witness in another article ?

Sandy, 'bankers' (ie millionaire gamblers working in The City) may have caused hurt and misery, but their employees working in retail branches have not. They do not deserve this traumatic experience, and as such it does not 'go with the territory'.

These were cashiers working in a retail bank....not high powered £900k+ a year investment bank managers !! Cashiers earning £20k a year!
You have no idea how traumatised these people are after having a possible firearm waved in heir face with the threat of being shot!
Yes we have free speech, but please think of these people before spouting off nonsense which is offensive.
I understand the anger we all have with theUK banking industry and the powerful people pulling the strings causing heartache......but these were joe public working class people that have been left terrified just doing a 9 to 5 job
