Eastern Bypass closed after two crashes

THE Eastern Bypass at Horspath Driftway is closed in both directions after a collision involving three cars.

At least one person has been taken to hospital following the accident, which happened on the southbound carriageway near the Cowley Mini plant at about 6pm.

The fire service initially said the accident involved two cars but the ambulance service, which called in the incident, has now said it involved three vehicles.

A motorist had to be cut from their car by the fire service.

The ambulance service took two people to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but a spokesman said they do not yet have information about the nature of their injuries.

Another ambulance remains at the scene.

The accident was spotted by an ambulance crew on route to another collision, involving a van and a car, on the Eastern Bypass near Ambassador Avenue. The accident happened at about 5.48pm and no one was injured.

Oxfordshire County Council tweeted: “Non-serious accident has closed northbound Eastern Bypass between Cowley flyover and Horspath Driftway. Roads are slippy - please take care!”
