Medieval pendant is 'treasure'

A silver gilt pendant of probable medieval origin was found to be treasure at an Oxford inquest yesterday.

The coroner’s office could not confirm who made the discovery or the exact location in which it was found, although it was in the Kingston Bagpuize area.

As the find has been ruled to be treasure, public museums will be given the opportunity to take ownership of it.

A reward, based on its market value, could be paid from public money to the finder or the occupier of the land.
