A 23-YEAR-OLD cyclist was knocked unconscious in an attack in East Oxford.
The victim suffered a cut to his head and broken thumb after the attack at about 9.30pm on Thursday in Morris Crescent off Cowley Road.
Police said the man was riding his bike and talking on a mobile phone when he was approached from behind and hit around the head, knocking him to the ground unconscious.
He then woke up to find he was being kicked and someone was trying to make off with his bike, police said. When he screamed the attackers ran off. Nothing was stolen.
Police said two men on bikes were seen cycling away from the scene. They described both as thin and about 5ft 5in tall. One was wearing a light grey hoodie and the other was wearing a dark green hoodie. Both their hoods were pulled up over their heads.
The victim also suffered bruising and was treated at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital before being discharged.
