A man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence at Redbridge Hollow travellers’ site yesterday.

Officers attended at about 10am in response to information linking a vehicle on the site to a break-in at a commercial property in Hinksey on Wednesday.

Western Road resident John Pusey said: “I have never seen so many police officers in my life. There looked to be about 30 or 40 of them in dark blue battle dress.”

Thames Valley Police spokesman Rhianne Pope said when police arrived to deal with the original enquiry they discovered two caravans thought to be stolen.

A 25-year-old man was then arrested on a public order offence. He remained in custody yesterday.
