PLANS for a major redevelopment of buildings at Oxford University's Old Road campus have been approved in principle.
Councillors granted outline planning permission for the scheme at their east area planning committee meeting tonight.
The university wants to demolish old buildings associated with the Park Hospital and build research space over five building plots and provision for 459 car parking spaces.
Concerns were raised by residents about the impact some elements of the proposal will have on the infrastructure of the area.
But councillors agreed to allow the council to begin working out a legal agreement with the university.
