Rugby club stalwart dies playing in match

WHEATLEY rugby player Jason Laman collapsed and died during a match yesterday.

Mr Laman, 42, was about to take a conversion when he fell to the ground during a match against Berkshire-based Crowthorne RFC.

The chairman of Wheatley Rugby Club, Peter Ramsdale, paid tribute to him saying today he was “the most popular man at the club”.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said paramedics were called to Wheatley at around 3.30pm yesterday and took Mr Laman to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
