CYCLING has long been part of the story in Oxford – and now a bicycle group has moved into the city’s new Story Museum.
Broken Spoke, which runs DIY maintenance workshops, is customising its new space in the Pembroke Street site by painting it orange. Taking on the part of the building which used to be the old Post Office sorting office, they hope to be fully open on site by Friday, February 1.
The non-profit bike group aims to address environmental and health issues by teaching people how to maintain, fix and ride bicycles.
Group member Cassiope Sydoriak, 25, said: “It is amazing and absolutely a dream come true, and it has also given us the opportunity to be really accessible. ”
The group started out as a women’s bicycle project but decided to expand last year to include everyone. Until the new premises are up and running, the group is based at South Oxford Community Centre in Lake Street.
